A Message from Mr. Michael Smith, Superintendent, Oakland CUSD #5…

Thank you for using our school website.  A great deal of time has been put into updating the
site and keeping it current, but it is definitely worth it.

There are many new and exciting things going on in preparation for the 2009-2010 school year. 
Work continues on the remodeling of Lake Crest.  This involves the removal of all remaining
asbestos and the installation of new flooring, ceiling tile, whiteboards, and some SmartBoards
in the classrooms in the back half of the building.

The project will be complete by the beginning of the school year.

As always, the custodians are doing another outstanding job in getting the buildings and grounds
ready for another school year. 

It is exciting as we look forward to the new school year.  It is always a pleasure to have our
students and teachers back in the classrooms.

I have a strong belief that the future of education will be enhanced by the use of technology. 
This starts with our school website that can be accessed by students, staff, parents, and
community members.

My hope is that you will come back to visit it many times throughout the year.
